Throwback to that time in college when me and a group of friends were having an all-day Lord of the Rings marathon, and during the scene where the Fellowship is fighting the giant squid and Aragorn does something awesome, I turned to my friend and was like,
“Strider is so hot.”
Strider being one of Aragorn’s in-universe nicknames, for the uninitiated.
And one of the guys in the group, who I had never met before, was like “WHAT? Really???” with enormous eyes.
“Uh, yeah?”
I look to my friend, who makes confirmation noises. I look at some of the other girls, more confirmation noises.
Guy, now looking very uncomfortable, but realizing he made some kind of misstep: “Oh. I mean. Whatever you’re into, I guess. That’s fine.”
Me: “Okay??”
Then a SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME LATER, either I make another comment or someone in the film calls Aragorn Strider, I can’t remember the context, and the guy goes: “OH! Strider is Aragorn. Okay. Okay.”
hurr hurr I’m a human body hurr hurr I’m gonna solve all my problems using mucus
“i require more fluids” well what did you do with the fluids I already gave you. hmm? did you make more mucus with them? you made more mucus with them.
A little advice from someone studying extremist groups: if you’re in a social media environment where the daily ubiquitous message is that you have no hope of any kind of future and you can’t possibly achieve anything without a violent overthrow of society, you’re being radicalized, and not in the good way.
If the solution to your problems sounds like “we need a blank slate” it’s a lie. There are no blank slates, and the closest approximation people can generally imagine is “burn it all down and let God/fate/history sort it out”.
That’s not problem solving. It’s barely catharsis, in practice. It doesn’t just create more problems than it solves, it destroys more solutions than it creates.
Put the apocalypse down, and back away slowly.
Real solutions to complex, systemic problems are not so easily reduced to “us good, them evil; kill them.”
It’s genuinely funny how people say supporting the “lesser evil” is wrong and then push for violent revolution, as if a violent revolution is not evil. Countless innocent people would die in the fighting, the disruption of society would lead to deaths from starvation and a lack of medicine, etc. Violent revolution will not be glorious. No war is glorious.
If case you where wondering, this is dr. Gallagher. I know she has a huge following on tik tok.
In summary: Dr. Sidhbh Gallagher, @gendersurgeon on TikTok, is a top surgeon with whom many patients have had extremely dangerous and even near-death experiences. She continued to deny how much her patients were suffering after their botched surgeries even when presented with evidence.
This TikTok user, @mrherbcat, talked about this back in 2022. He wrote an article on it on Medium: link
Article is good but has some very graphic uncensored images, heads up!
Also it says in the article that on top of all this horrible shit, basically he can’t sue because she opted out of medical malpractice insurance and it would be hard to find a lawyer who would both take the risk and also be supportive of gender affirming surgeries. The hospital she works at also had problems. She got their name wrong and a nurse misgendered him. Like. Holy hell.
